INTERNATIONAL LAW INSTITUTE

Dear Colleagues:

The International Law Institute (ILI) would like to remind you of two of its upcoming seminars that might be of interest to you. As you may know, the ILI was established in 1955 and is an independent, international, non-profit training institute that has trained more than 15,000 government officials and practitioners from more than 185 countries on legal and financial management matters. The courses, designed for policymakers, officers of governmental agencies and the private sector, and civil servants involved in anticorruption regulations, will be held at ILI’s Washington, D.C. headquarters.

Public Enterprise Reform and Privatization, April 20th- May 1st, 2009

International Borrowing and Debt Management, May 4th- May 15th, 2009

The Public Enterprise Reform and Privatization seminar will explore policies and action alternatives to support public enterprise restructuring, reform and privatization efforts. How can policymakers inform and mobilize stakeholders, including employees, to understand the benefits of restructuring privatization? How can national economic and social welfare factors be taken into account? Is privatization the only way to improve enterprise performance, to alleviate fiscal distress? Case studies will be used to illustrate the techniques and dilemmas of restructuring and privatization. Key topics of discussion will include

The International Borrowing and Debt Management seminar exposes participants to structural-adjustment programs and the problems and opportunities associated with loan renegotiations. Through an examination of financing documents, alternative debt-reduction techniques, and case studies, participants become familiar with the critical issues, problems, pitfalls, and advantages involved in structural-adjustment programs.

Tuition for the courses covers all lectures, materials, site visits, transportation to site visits, and several social events. In addition, accommodations may be arranged through ILI at several hotels where we have secured favorable rates. Tuition rates are as follows:
